Lunch with an Astronaut Essay Contest

Want to have lunch with an Astronaut?
We are asking students to submit an essay answering the questions provided for your grade level. The contest winners will have the opportunity to have lunch with a former NASA Astronaut. They will also be invited to attend the opening day activities of the Evergreen Space Museum, which will include former astronaut speakers, a ribbon cutting ceremony and other festivities. Student essays must be completed and turned in by May 23, 2008.

  Group Tours

Customized Group Tours with
Age-Appropriate Activities

Personally guided, age-appropriate group tours are available. Group tours are followed by an exciting, hands-on seminar/activity of your choice (with advance arrangement). Activity topics can be adapted to the class's age/ability level.

They include:
History of Aviation from people's earliest dreams to today.
Science of Flight. This hands-on activity includes a creative glider building project. Older children will learn the basics of aerodynamics and the four forces of flight.
Aviation Scavenger Hunt. Students learn fun facts about the aviation exhibits while they explore the museum on their own.
Flight Lab. Custom designed, age appropriate simulations using state of the art simulator software and specially designed curriculum to teach the basics of flight, navigation, and aircraft operations.
A Conversation in History. Many of the museum's volunteers are veterans with experiences in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. With prior notification school groups can interview a veteran who has first hand experience in their area of interest.

We're happy to work with teachers to design a special presentation that meets their education objectives.
